Effective Fishing Bait ~Fresh and Saltwater
Fishing bait is an offering of some kind of food or an artificial lure placed at the end of a fishing line to entice a fish to bite. Bait is very important and is placed on top of any sport fishermen’s mind even before they hit the road on a fishing trip. It’s just so simple, without bait and suitable bait you can’t get fish!

Whether your target is catfish on a lake or big marlin offshore on an ocean, success angling depends on what you offer to them and the choosing right choice to fool them to take the hook at the end of your line. Some species are easy to fool and some are very choosey with what they’re served, and how they are served. Although it sound like a challenging task, but if you’ve a good knowledge of the diet and the feeding habits of the species you’re after, picking the right bait to fool them will be made easier. Anglers are spoilt for choice with the wide range of baits available. Baits are divided into Naturals, Processed and Artificials. Natural baits are always the best choice because they are mostly part of their diet and what they are seeking for. Worms, baitfish, insects and many others are some of the good examples. Processed baits are mainly foodstuffs you can easily find and gather from your home, supermarkets and also tackle stores. Hot dogs, pellets for your aquarium fishes, cats and dogs biscuits, bread, cheese and many others that you can find around you are some of the stuff anglers’ use as fishing baits. Artificials or artificial lures like spoons, spinners, flies, jigs, poppers and crank-baits are designed to mimic a fleeing injured baitfish or insect when line is retrieved. They’re usually used for casting and trolling in some manners to provoke, especially predatory species to grab them. These are the basic ideas of what fishing bait is all about.
