Braided Fishing Line Caught More Fish
A braided fishing line is made by weaving multiple strands of fibers like Spectra or Micro-Dyneema into a strand of line. Braids are much more expensive than any other lines in the market due to the difficult weaving process. They are sometimes called Super lines. These fishing lines have little or no stretch with very small diameter for their strength. They’re not stiff and have no memory. Braids are very strong and abrasion resistant. Braids are highly visible in water. To overcome this problem so as not to spook the fish I usually use a leader of monofilament or fluorocarbon line in between the braid and the bait. Braided fishing line tends to bury into itself on the spool; it’s better to go with a lighter drag than a higher drag. The cost of braids may be high but they last longer than any other lines so in the end they’re worth the high price. To cut cost I used a backing with some length of monofilament line. Braided fishing lines are very popular amongst deep-sea fishermen. They’re the best lines for deep-water trolling, jigging, bottom-fishing or deep-drop fishing. Due to their little or no stretch quality they provide sensitivity to deep-sea anglers. The slightest tap of a fish mouthing your bait will be felt. Lures casting anglers love braids too. More lines can be spooled into their bait-casters or spinning reels with their small diameter and higher strength. With little or no stretch and abrasion resistance pulling powerful running fish quickly away from covers like rocks and brushes, braids are super. Choosing braids as my main fishing line, I caught more fish because setting the hook into the mouth of any tough fish is made easier with braid. to top of page:
